Get super sexy, yet understated, holiday make-up this season with clean lined eyes and perfectly colored pout lips. Get your warpaint out ladies, we have guests to entertain and parties to attend!
Line the outer part of your upper, lower lids and outer corner of your eye for a dramatic look. Try using dark brown or navy blue rather than black, which can look harsh and a bit overdone. Follow with 2 coats of mascara (if you choose). Tip: Start from the outer part (upper lid) and mark with dots working your way out. Practice makes perfect!
Choose your colors and choose wisely. When it comes to creating the perfect pout color choice is just as important as your confidence. Pick a color that you can *work*…if you aren’t so sure or you want to try out something new play around with it a bit. Wear it around the house or while out running errands…breeze past yourself in the mirror a few times to check yourself out. Either you’re already looking good (my guess is you are) or you are just a few lip liner tweaks away. Get a little cheeky! I know full face looks are in this season but save your recital face for, well a recital I guess! A little shimmer goes a long way. My preference happens to be liquid but work with what you are comfortable with. A light dab in the inner corner of the eye area and a little across the cheek (could be high or low depending on face shape and the look you are trying to achieve) and presto…you’ve got your game face on. That’s make-up made easy and fun!

So I wanted to share a few of my favorite places to shop with you. I love making my own clothes and accessories but sometimes my fingers (and my sewing machine) need a break. So I took a little mommy time after my husband got in from work *read- dinner was ready and waiting for him to sit down and eat with the children so I could go flying out the door for some ME time!* Usually I end up some where quiet like the library where I (always) get lost in the stacks for a few hours but for some reason I had the urge to do a little shopping. As it turns out I picked the perfect day to do it and only spent about $35.
Among the cute finds (and fabulous deals) I found this cute wallet at Marshalls for $5.99 by Amici Accessories, they also have a website www.amiciaccessories.com. And let me just say that if you have never been to a Marshalls or TJ Maxx (they basically carry the same items) you need to click on the link and get to one! www.marshallsonline.com or www.tjmaxx.com
Another place I stopped in was Styles for Less…their prices aren’t always the best but they know how to do a sale and right now (in-store & online) they have some major sale/clearance deals, including BOGO on lots of accessories and clothing items. Here I picked up 2 tops marked down (more than half off) and they were still in perfect condition, one of which is going to suit my lace leggings very well, and 2 ‘statement’ style rings that were BOGO 50% off. Visit their site to shop or find a store near you www.stylesforless.com
I also stopped in Rainbow & picked up a super sexy sheer top, that I’m sure I’ll be donning for date night with my husband, also marked 50% off. Yes I know I typed ‘sheer’ but that is what *layering* is for lol. Check their site for a location near you www.rainbowshops.com
I hope you ladies find my suggestions helpful. Listed below are some online shoppes that I have ordered from in the past.
**Also check out www.shopstyle.com . You can look at tons of products from multiple designers/brands, save your favorites and find sales on your favorite designer items.

So I’ve been on the hunt for a new foundation and it looks as if I’ve struck gold! For years I have used Mary Kay foundations (medium coverage, liquid) and Cover Girl (pressed powder) and they were my true loves no matter what! Well as of late mama is not feelin the love anymore…it could be a change in their formulations (if there is any) or it could be a change in me (there have been some recently), the point is we are no longer working on a face meets makeup in harmony level. Sooooo I meant to do a little digging and testing for some new products but with the launch of the store and family obligations it just completely slipped my mind. Fast forward nearly 2 1/2 months later and I am at the drugstore less than 1 hour before closing blindly searching for something that will get me through my busy weekend (and actually work!). After a bit of muttering and a lot more (product) pacing I’m in line, 5 minutes before closing, with a bottle of liquid foundation, tube of lip stain and hair conditioner, none of which I have tried before, ha! The very same night I gave all 3 products a test drive and just like that I added 3 easy [read affordable] solutions to my nearly everyday routine. And yes they work (thank goodness)!
MAYBELLINE NEW YORK 24 HR WEAR SUPER STAY MAKEUP (CARAMEL) – This foundation actually has decent staying power. I have fairly oily skin so using makeup that isn’t going to slide off or aide in clogging my pores is extremely important. The bottle reads ‘ MICRO-FLEX FORMULA’ which I’m guessing is the thing that keeps your makeup from looking spotty after a couple hours wear. With blotting papers on deck there was no need to reapply.
NYC SMOOCH PROOF 16 HR LIP STAIN (BERRY LONG TIME) – To be completely honest this was a cheap thrill that I grabbed to try out. I wanted to add a little something to my lip colour but I was completely content with all of my current lipsticks, glosses and lip pencils and this did the trick. I’m a layer girl, I love to mix and match and bright berrys and deep wines are a Fall favorite for me. I went for more of a deep wine look last weekend and I’ll be using this same stain to play up a brighter lip while hosting dinner for my parents and father in-law this weekend. I’m beyond prepared knowing my ‘lip art’ will hold up through preparing and serving dinner.
*thanking the makeup goddesses lol*
SUAVE PROF ALMOND + SHEA BUTTER CONDITIONER (AND SHAMPOO) –
Okay a short funny story here…I bought this, or so I thought I did, about 2 weeks ago only to find I grabbed the exact same formulation only it was shampoo! I must have been beyond tired but I tried it out anyway and I like that as well. I really only co wash but since I had it I mind as well use it. Anyways on any given day I am a WEN girl at heart however when I decided to expand my business $100 conditioner orders were not factored into my budget (a sacrifice I can definitely live with). Getting on with it, I have no complaints about this conditioner. I have extremely curly (and dyed, for about 3 months now) hair. It goes on nice, rinses out well [leaves no residue] and the scent is light.

….FIGHTING FREE RADICALS
“Old age is like everything else. To make a success of it, you’ve got to start young.” – Fred Astaire
Some of the best food sources of antioxidant compounds include vitamin C- packed citrus fruits, broccoli, red and green bell peppers, and dark leafy vegetables; beta-carotene-rich carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach; and wheat germ and vegetable oils, which are loaded with vitamin E.
Combating free radicals is no walk in the park but can certainly be accomplished with a steady intake of foods scoring high in antioxidant analysis or ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbency Capacity), a method of measuring the antioxidant power of foods. These foods protect cells from free radical aging diseases. You can find scores for different super foods at: http://www.oracvalues.com/sort/orac-value/
Doctor’s Top Tip:
“Gogi berries grow in the Himalayas, and they supposedly have the highest amount of antioxidants of any berry,” says Patricia David, MD, MSPH, president of Healthy U in Columbus OH. “In the Himalayas, gogi berries were dropping into the drinking water, and the people drinking that water were all very healthy and living to an extremely old age,” she says. “The theory is that it had something to do with the high content of gogi berries in the water.” Gogi berries aren’t available in most local grocery stores, but you can order them online. “I throw a few of them in every glass of water I drink,” says Dr. David. Or you can munch on the gogi berries themselves to get their antioxidant effects.
